Pictiured below: Seabrook Nuclear Power Station Tour May 26, 2026 with, among others, Reps McGrath (Hampton), Schneller (Bedford – House Science, Tech, and Energy Committee), Kesselring (Manchester) and Saborin dit Choinier (Seabrook and also ST&E), Senate Candidate Scott Brown, Congressional candidate Rep Brian Cole (Manchester), and Tom Barrasso (DIrector of Energy Innovation in NH DoE), all of whom have been strong advocates for nuclear expansion in New Hampshire. Accompanied by SVP Michelle Gardner and other representatives of Seabrook Nuclear Power Station.

The large white housing with yellow and blue conduit in background is the turbine that produces electricity for 1.4Mn homes and businesses in New England.

WE NEED MORE of this reliable, always on, and reasonably-priced energy to flatten out the upward-sloping cost curve for Granite State energy consumers. That includes both residential and growing industrial customers in our state. The Republican controlled legislature is working towards the goal of nuclear expansion while democrats have opposed this practical energy source in favor of alternative “Green” energy that is both expensive and ironically, environmentally disruptive. I urge my fellow Bedford citizens to ask their democrat reps how many environmentally hazardous offshore wind turbines it would take to offset the power we generate from Seabrook. Further, I would suggest you ask on what acreage (if it existed) we would need to deploy solar panels to do same. The answer to the second question is that we would have to lease half the state of Maine’s available land in addition to New Hampshire to achieve this whimsical goal. That assumes, of course, that the sun is shining and the panels are 100% functional and not covered in snow. We need more nuclear power augmented and backed up by natural gas. Hydro is viable and part of the solution but simply not large enough to serve our growing power needs.

I look forward to a discussion with any and all Bedford residents as I come knocking on your doors this summer to ask how our Representatives can continue to make Bedford and the Granite State the best place in the country to live, raise families and work.

Serving Bedford,

Representative John Schneller
